Ma Xian lei is a Ph.D. student of Environmental Economics and Natural Resources Group, Mansholt Graduate School of Social Sciences, Wageningen University. His research mainly focuses on land economics, land policy and environmental policy in China. The title of his project is Land Fragmentation in China: Economics, Policies, and Impact on the Environment. Before he came to Wageningen he studied as a Ph.D. candidate in the college of Land management, Nanjing Agricultural University, P.R. China. During his stay in China he was involved in the SEARUSYN project (South and East Asian Rural Urban Synergy), funded by the European Union under the INCO-DEV, by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences under the KNAW-MOST TRANSITO project and under the National 973 program of China.
